Ceiling Water Damage Clean Up in Riverview
Did you have a flood on the second floor of your business or home? The two most common causes for water damage on ceilings are a leaking roof and leaking or broken water pipes. Other common, and much more noticeable, causes include overflowing toilets, sinks or bathtubs that have been left unattended. If so, the next step is to
watch for ceiling damage on the ceiling below the water intrusion. We will come in and make sure that the initial cause of the problem is fixed then we will tackle the issue of how to assess what must be done with the ceiling.
The severity of the damage, as well as how long the problem existed before you realized it and repaired it, will determine the extent of the cleaning process. For example, if the damage isn’t severe and your water leak didn’t last long, we may only have to dry a water damaged ceiling. If the damage is severe, and the leak lasted for a long time, we may have to take out the irreplaceable
ceiling areas. We check for small dimples that form as the drywall surrounding the nails or screws succumbs to gravity and start to droop leaving an upside down crater. If we see a bubble or droop start to happen in the drywall there could be ponding water. If the drywall seems soft or spongy, we will cut out the damaged section before it sags and possibly falls.
The steps we take to take out the water damaged area will depend on the materials that make up your ceiling and how stable the building’s structure is. We want to make sure that the area is safe, then we will begin our process of taking out the damaged areas and drying the remaining areas so no mold will begin forming.
